The BaseTen framework is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2.0. Currently, under the GNU GPL, you can distribute applications based on BaseTen only if you make the full source code to your application available to your users. In all commercial settings, MK&C recommends using a commercial BaseTen license.

MK&C offers commercial licenses that include code-level support and allow redistribution of BaseTen without including the source of your application or of the BaseTen frameworks. For a limited time, commercial BaseTen licenses are available for $199/€149 per named developer, representing a 75% discount off our planned regular price. One year of support and upgrades is included.

The actual license grant is as follows:

MK&C, the author of the BaseTen framework, grants you a perpetual, worldwide, royalty free, fully paid up, non-exclusive license to copy and distribute the BaseTen framework in conjunction with software developed by (Named Developer). Additionally, the following conditions apply:

- The copy of BaseTen you distribute can be used only in conjunction with your software. The end users of your software do not gain the right to copy and distribute BaseTen alone or with any other software.

- This license is perpetual, but only applies to BaseTen versions, including non-release snapshots, that have been made available while your support contract is valid. Your initial support contract is valid until one year from the date of purchase. After that time, the yearly contract extensions are priced at 25% of the prevailing license price at time of renewal.

- The software you distribute BaseTen with must have been written by the individual named developer of your BaseTen license. If your software has multiple authors, a BaseTen license is required for all of them. In case a developer ceases to work on your software, the license may be transferred to another named developer as long as your support contract is valid.

- While your support contract is valid, you are free to change the BaseTen framework source and distribute your changed version in binary form without being bound by the conditions of the GNU General Public License. If, however, you provide MK&C with the source code for your changes, you agree that MK&C will be assigned copyright to the said source code for the purpose of integrating it into BaseTen.

- BaseTen comes without any warranty; without even the implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. We do our best to provide support for BaseTen users, but provide no guarantee that we will be able to resolve any specific support issues.
